To connect the monitor to a computer, one of the existing interfaces (DVI, D-SUB (VGS), HDMI, DispleyPort) can be used, depending on which one is on the monitor.
To understand with what it is better to use, it is possible only, understanding, than they differ.
Input VGA (D-SUB 15)
One of the first interfaces for computer communication andMonitor that transmits an analog signal in the RGB color scheme along with the horizontal and vertical frequency sweep signals. This interface was developed for use in monitors with cathode-ray tubes. The connector of predominantly blue color has 15 contacts arranged in three rows. Each row is offset with neighboring ones so that the contacts are staggered. The case of the connector has the shape of a trapezoid in order not to confuse the orientation of the response connector when connected. The connector is called D-SUB, while VGA determines the signal format. In LCD monitors, you can find this output, but in terms of efficiency, it is inferior to digital.

The connector has a rectangular shape with chamfered corners on one side and two separate groups of contacts. The main group is 24 contacts located in 3 rows, the smaller group is 4 contacts located on the side and separated by a slot, which is also a lock.
The DVI input is designed to receive a digital signalFrom the video card. Meet a CRT monitor with a DVI input is unlikely to work. The interface was originally designed for use in LCD monitors, plasma and other similar devices, where you can transfer the signal from the video card to the matrix without additional transformations. In order not to confuse and insert the connector of the connecting wire with the wrong side, bevels are provided on one side of the connector and an additional slit lock away from the main group of contacts.
The DVI connector can also transmit an analog signal (DVI-A, DVI-I). For each possible connection, there are separate wires and adapters. It is important not to confuse them when connecting.
Connector, which appeared in the course of further developmentDigital interfaces for monitors and other multimedia equipment. The main feature of this input is the ability to transmit not only a digital video signal, but also a sound. The connector itself is flat, rectangular in shape, inside of which there is a tongue with pads on both sides. To orient the response connector on the connecting cable, characteristic chamfers are provided on one side of the connector. The bevels are not straight, but slightly rounded, concave into the connector.
Using the HDMI interface, you can connect multiple monitors at once or combine a monitor and, for example, a home theater system.
The connector was invented for a format almost similar toHDMI, slightly differ in the speed of information transfer and the shape of the connector. Its shape is rectangular flat. The locks are bevelled corners with one of the short sides. Externally, the connectors of the last two types are the same in size, but the presence of completely different locks will not allow them to be confused and insert a connecting cable of the wrong format.
