Based on this reasoning on one's ownYears of experience, I want to tell you exactly how to learn to speak a foreign language, and not how to learn it. Indeed, there is a huge chasm between these two concepts.
Learn and speak.
Try to understand the difference.
For many years I learned a foreign language, but did not speak it.
I knew grammar, learned tons of words, wrote something, decided tests, etc., etc. Years later, I ask myself the question: "Why can not I still speak a foreign language ?!".
And then I began to take an interest, read, communicate with people, having decided to find the answer to my question.
And you know what?
I managed! I will not convince you that only this method is perfect and correct.
I just want to share my positive experience.
The most-effective way to speakA foreign language - it's to plunge into the language environment. The situation itself will force you to adapt and speak. There is simply no other way out. For example, you are in America to live there for a couple of months. At the same time you have very little money. You are looking for work, making acquaintances, constantly hearing a foreign speech, thanks to which you yourself begin to speak.
There is also a more sparing way to plunge into the language environment - to go abroad to a language school. There you will be taught by native speakers.
Of course, foreign countries and language schools are expensive. Not everyone has such an opportunity. But it does not matter at all. Guided by the rules described below, you can master the foreign speech is not worse.
Never teach individual words. Learn the whole phrases!
The jagged words quickly flee from memory. "Bad ... bad ... Bad ... bad." And just a month later: "Bad ... em ...". Teach: "He is a bad boy. He's a bad boy. " Finished phrases will quickly pop up in your memory if you need to say something, rather than individual words. The construction of such a phrase can be changed at its own discretion, using in it other words.
Problem: Each of us, above all, thinks in his native language. And if you translate your thoughts using a set of memorized words, it sometimes turns out to be a nonsense. After all, very often in foreign languages, a literal translation into your native language looks very ridiculous. So learn the phrases!
Do not learn grammar!
This item always causes a storm of negativeEmotions. I'll try to explain why you really do not need to learn grammar, if you need to speak a foreign language. Grammar rules prevent you from talking easily and freely, because before you say something, you think for a long time. Or afraid to say it wrong. Learn the phrases!
For example, in one song is sung: "I have never seen the sky before ..." - "I've never seen such a sky before!". Knowing the translation of this phrase, you can, in his likeness, compose absolutely any thought in a given time and meaning. I have never done it before. I have never understood it before.
And now tell me, why do you need to know that this is "Present Perfect Tense" ?!
When kids start talking, no one teaches them their grammar! But they speak as they hear. Learn to speak first, and then you will learn the grammar.
So teach with your ears!
Always eagerly listen. Read the translation of your favorite songs in the required foreign language, try to memorize the meaning of all phrases. And then just listen, listen, listen to them. You yourself will not notice how to start using these phrases in your speech. This is a very effective way.
If you do not want music, listen to texts, audiobooks, foreign news on TV. Anything.
For this point, I use two methods:
1) Talk to yourself! Yes Yes. If you do not want to be mistaken for a schizophrenic, talk only with yourself. Build monologues on various topics using all the phrases available to you. If you do not know how to say this or that thought, then say it is easier, but in no case do not miss it.
2) Get a foreign friend, chat with him forSkype. You can, of course, just write. But so you will have a constant temptation to look into an interpreter, dictionary or something else. And when talking to a living you have to get yourself out.
