There are two main types of screen. This LCD, better known as LCD and E-Ink - liquid ink technology.
Just 2-3 years ago, the choice for the reader was obvious - E-Ink. Such devices live longer on batteries and numerous reviews of their respective owners and experts are safer for the eyes.
But today, a lot has changed.
So what do we have to choose?
E-Ink screens do still have more contrast. For this reason, in bright light, like the sun, they have a huge advantage against the LCD-screens.
However, it seems that the damage to the eye fromLCD-devices more overvalued. Eyestrain often not because of "passing light", as claimed by some experts, but from looking blurry letters on the screen is not very high quality.
Top experts in eye - ophthalmologists, both ours and Western, agree that there is no difference to the eye: the transmitted light (in LCD) or reflected (in the E-Ink).
So today a catastrophic difference in the screens from this point of view there, but when buying guided by high-resolution matrix - they tend to be more modern and high quality.
From the software point of view in the LCD and E-Ink todayfull parity. Universally recognized for readers like CoolReader, exist on all mobile platforms. A specialized device for reading on E-Ink increasingly put Android operating system, which allows for comfortable reading of more than 20 different programs.
But from the point of view of energy consumption E-InkIt remains on top. But then the manufacturers of smartphones on the LCD went the other way. They just were installed in your device two screens - one for applications that require good graphics and video, and the second, E-Ink reading.
